Daphne,

It's been a while since we've had a chat, and now that the play is over, I suppose neither of us have the time as we approach end of term exams. Anyway I just wanted to share somethings with you.

First, Draco Malfoy sent me a PM a couple days ago. Which wouldn't normally be a big deal that he would PM anyone except that its me we are talking about. It seems he went out of his way to let me know about a contest submission in Purest Sparkle this week. He even wished me luck by saying hoped that I would win something out of it. It just seemed odd. But I am grateful that he told me. He said that he had heard you say I was interested in fashion. He also said that you told him that I was "cool". That was nice of you to say.

After that I tried to get Luna, to lend me her copy of the periodical, but I haven't heard from here. I am not sure if she is cross with me or not. I haven't said anything out of the way to her, and this was important to me. So I have spent the past couple of days trying to hunt down a copy of the announcement so that I could send in a submission. Finally, Julianna Bradley, one of my dorm mates had one. So, I would like you to check over my submission for me and tell me what you think. I am asked to send in a picture and a short essay on how a makeover would improve my summer holidays. Please tell me what you think.

                                                          How a makeover would improve my summer holidays.

 

My name is Ginny W. (Weasley). A make over for the summer would mean so much to me. As the only girl, and the youngest of seven children, my parents can hardly afford the designers that I am interested in. This doesn't bother me usually as we are in school most of the year and have to wear uniforms, but during the summer and special occasions, it would be nice to have something in season sometimes.

Oftentimes, if I want to wear something fashionable, I try to transfigure my robes to copy something currently in season. I love to keep up with fashion trends, and to have a couple new robes and the makeover would make me feel as if I were floating on cloud nine. It would be the highlight of my summer, and make it so much better.

I don't imagine that Draco is the type to apologise to someone unless he really knows them well, but I'm sure that the gesture was a way of making it clear that he meant no harm by carrying on with Blaise in your journal. Oh, and I did tell him that you liked fashion, but didn't get a chance to talk about it much with some of your other friends. It's too bad Lovegood wasn't able to help you out, but maybe she lost track of the latest issue and didn't want to disappoint you.

I think the essay looks very good! One thing you might want to do is make it clear that you read their magazine, and that you look to the pages of Purest Sparkle for fashion inspiration. For example, you could specifically mention being inspired by that spread they did last month, with the robes by...oh, who was it? Petit La Roux, I think? Oh, and to make yourself look very fashion forward, you might tell them that you love the word of Gerard Joosh, or one of those other grown-up designers that appear in Tribea and the like. Gerard Joosh only does couture for people like Mrs Malfoy, of course, but I think it would look good if you make it clear you're familiar with the best of the best. If you make those changes I think you'll really have an edge over everyone else who enters!

Oh, and...well, I'm not sure it's my place to tell you this, but I think you deserve to know that your brother Ron is not happy with Draco and is somehow convinced that both he and Blaise are trying to hurt you. He wrote both Draco and Blaise a rather intimidating private message, warning them to back off.

I don't want to cause trouble between you and your brother, but it seems he could have asked you about if first before losing his temper with Draco and Blaise.
