I hope you haven't resolved to never read journal PMs from the rest of your family again because I imagine you'll want to see this one.

Did you hear from Mr Malfoy that twenty-one students at Hogwarts got ouroboros pins today, and  letters from Councilwizards saying that they're to be evaluated and tested and perhaps they'll be invited to become Councilwizards themselves?  (Or if Mr Malfoy didn't tell you, maybe you heard from someone else? Certainly everyone HERE knows about it.)

One of the people who got a pin today was Ron.

(Draco Malfoy got one, too, and Pansy Parkinson. And Hydra Lestrange. Mostly they were Slytherins though Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnigan and Katie Bell all got them, too, Ron wasn't the only Gryffindor.)

Yes, I have heard about it from Mr Malfoy, but more than that, I learned just today that I have also been honoured with a role to play in the competition, believe it or not. I am to be the liaison between the judges at Hogwarts and the Lord Protector himself! To say that I have been stunned by this mark of favour is putting it mildly, but I am determined to do whatever I can to prove myself worthy of His notice.

Of course, given my role, I must be careful about speaking to Ronald directly, but I have no qualms in assuring you that I am absolutely delighted to learn of his nomination. Whatever disadvantages we suffered in our upbringing, it is most gratifying to reflect that the purity of our blood has proven true in the end. I hope you will take that as a point of encouragement.

I trust that others in the family will have enough sense to refrain from sabotaging Ronald's chances in any way with their own behaviour.

I still need to learn further details concerning the details of my rôle--although Mr Malfoy has hinted that it may present opportunities to prove my worth--but I hope that it might allow me to stop by Hogwarts occasionally. It would be pleasant to see you again.

I trust your preparations for OWLs are going well. Never underestimate the value of the work you are doing now in the months right before the tests; it may prove absolutely vital to your future career.

Why would ANYONE in the family sabotage Ron? This is a great honour and incredibly exciting and I am SURE that we all wish him the best.

Well, I trust that no Weasley would sabotage him deliberately, because yes, it is a very great honour indeed. What worries me is that when he is evaluated, the decorum and behaviour of his family will also be taken into account. Well, of course it will! A member of the Council must have no embarrassing ties.

That, I fear, is where Ronald may be judged to fall short in comparison to some of the other potential candidates.
